A Therapist Mums POV

The Baby Cloud Guest Blog:

Here at The Baby Cloud, we are proud to bring you our next instalment of The Baby Cloud Blog, from our friend, collaborator & previous Baby Cloud parent Rachel Giddings.

Rachel is a therapist specialising in mental health & wellbeing.

Here Rachel gives us an overview of her experience as a mum in classes, but also as a mental health professional.  Highlighting how baby classes can actually really support a parents mental health, through one of the biggest changes in a new parents life.

Rachel Giddings – Integrative Talking Therapist

The Baby Cloud classes stand out as an exceptional place to be for new mums, as Sarah creates a nurturing space where they can connect, learn, and thrive together. Her holistic approach is the USP and sets her apart from other service providers. By incorporating breath work and stretches for the mamas at the beginning of sessions, allow for self regulation and actives the parasympathetic nervous system, a calming space where we all get to breathe.

As a mental health professional I recognise how fundamental self regulation is for growing capacity to cope with the stressors of motherhood.

From the moment I entered The Baby Cloud, I felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately put both mums and babies at ease. The thoughtfully designed sensory activities are not just about stimulating babies’ senses; they are a gateway to deeper understanding and connection.

These classes offer a unique blend of developmental education and community support that is incredibly beneficial for mothers navigating the often challenging journey of early parenthood.

One of the most significant aspects of The Baby Cloud is the sense of community it fosters. Motherhood can sometimes feel isolating, but here, mums are given a precious opportunity to come together and share their experiences. This space provides a platform for mothers to feel heard and understood, validating their feelings and reinforcing that they are not alone in their experiences. The supportive environment encourages open conversations, creating a network of solidarity and shared wisdom among participants.

Additionally, The Baby Cloud goes beyond sensory play by integrating valuable lessons on child development. Understanding the normal milestones of a child’s growth helps mothers gain essential awareness and perspective. This knowledge empowers them to be more patient and resilient, recognising that challenges are a natural part of their child’s developmental journey. The insights gained from these classes equip mums with effective coping strategies, reducing anxiety and enhancing their confidence in their parenting abilities.

I had the pleasure of collaborating with Sarah on a workshop called Mindful Mamas, and my experience was nothing short of inspiring. Besides her obvious professionalism and dedication, what stood out was her immense care and empathy for the mothers. It was lovely to be part of the workshop and support the mums in a holistic way. Her commitment to creating a supportive and nurturing environment for every mother was evident, making the experience profoundly impactful.

In conclusion, The Baby Cloud sensory classes are a vital resource for new mums, offering an unparalleled combination of developmental education, community support, and mental health promotion. The benefits extend beyond the immediate joy of sensory play, fostering self-awareness, resilience, and a strong sense of community among mothers. I wholeheartedly recommend The Baby Cloud to any mum seeking a supportive and enriching environment to enhance both her and her baby’s journey.
